In gymnastics there’s a lot of strain on the ankles and knees. There’s a relatively low injury rate, but when injuries occur, they are more serious and it takes a longer time to get a full recovery. Although people don’t talk about it a lot, many people get injuries in the back doing all these kind of jumps all day every day.

good and bad impacts

Gymnastics fall under the athletics category, but there the look and bodyshape often matters and everything has to be beautiful, because of this many athletes get a eating disorder. When kids are only 14 year old they are going to 3 hours practises 5-6 times a week so gymnastics is a huge commitment. Gymnastics require flexibility, strength and discipline. Gymnastics is a very big sport, it’s the biggest sports for women, so it’s important to have good rolemodels in the sport for little kids.

In gymnastics you don't have to own very much but what you need to have are training clothes that are rather narrow because if it's loose and your coach is helping you in a jump everything can go the worst possible way. If you train TeamGym everybody has to own identical competition outfit that can cost up to 50.000 ISK otherwise you won’t get to compete.
